Emmerdale star Natalie Ann Jamieson left the ITV soap after six years when her character Amy Wyatt was tragically killed off in the limo crash.

Natalie has starred as Amy since 2019 when the character was brought back onto the soap. Chelsea Halfpenny had played Amy for three years between 2010 and 2013.

Originally from Newcastle, Natalie trained at the Rose Buford College before graduating in 2011. Before her trip to the Dales, she starred in a number of other popular shows including Vera and Doctors.

Her heartbreaking exit from Emmerdale left many fans sobbing over the loss of a beloved character, and took place on Thursday (20th February) after she suffered a cardiac arrest in hospital. Amy was involved in the tragic limo crash that saw three people confirmed dead.

In harrowing scenes, Amy was plunged into the water of the frozen lake after the ice cracked beneath her feet. While under the water, she tried to claw her way back up to the surface but struggled to find the gap.

During the frenzy, she came face to face with the body of Nate Robinson who hasn’t been seen in the Dales since he abruptly “left” last year.

In gut-wrenching scenes, Amy tried to tell Matty what she saw in the water but as he struggled to understand what she meant, she told him she loved him before suffering from a cardiac arrest that led to her untimely death.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News about her exit, Natalie shared that the cast were “Just as weepy as me, most of them”. She added: “Even just finding out that when I was breaking the news to them that I was gonna be going and what the exit was gonna be

“They were very very upset and like I say filming it because a lot of that last stuff was like with my nearest and dearest that was the people that I would spend most of my time on set with it was really sad.”

Natalie was the on-screen mum for Kyle Winchester, and amid her exit she shared how much she’d miss working with actor Huey. She revealed: “I’m gonna miss that boy so much. I’ll go and see him and have pizza or something whereas a lot of other people I’ll naturally see at the pub, that won’t be the same for Huey so I’m gonna miss him so much.

“Working on set with him was amazing, watching him go from a tiny little boy to what he is now is incredible. I watched Kyle’s episodes last night (Thursday 27th February) and it was breaking my heart… He was at the football and Cain hadn’t been to watch him and Amy was dead, I was like I need Amy back on set immediately.”

Natalie’s on-screen husband, Ash Palmisciano who plays Matty Barton also gave her a sweet gift upon her departure. The actress shared: “When I was leaving Ash made me a big book and it’s got all pictures in it of Amy Wyatt things.

“It says ‘the legend that is Amy Wyatt’, and it’s got all these pictures in. It’s got a picture of Amy and Kyle when Amy first came back and he’s tiny, a tiny little thing!”
