1 — Celebrate a dance anniversary
Free Flow Dance Theatre has been creating meaningful connections while making modern dance accessible to everyone for 30 years. Celebrate with the contemporary dance company at their season opener, a special multidisciplinary event in partnership with composer Cassandra Stinn. The show features visuals from 30 years of performances, spoken word by Ryan Bradshaw, a performance of Self Portrait of an Artist by dancer Alex Hartshorn in collaboration with visual artist Monique Martin, new compositions and live music. 2 — Experience a Ukrainian Easter tradition
The Ukrainian Museum of Canada hosts a family Pysanky workshop. Share a creative experience with the whole family while learning the Ukrainian Easter tradition of egg decorating with wax and dyes. 3 — Enjoy live music at home
The Ukrainian Museum also hosts a virtual concert with Ukrainian musician and hurdy-gurdy maker, Gordiy Starukh. Hosted by Serhij Koroliuk, the show features a unique blend of Ukrainian folklore, electronic elements and the distinct sound of the hurdy-gurdy. The free concert is Saturday at noon over Zoom. The Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra presents Women of Jazz, a night celebrating the iconic women who have left their mark on the jazz scene. Led by guest conductor Stacey Mortenson-Spokes, an all-female jazz ensemble honours and elevates the voices of women in jazz through a powerful blend of innovative and traditional jazz pieces. 5 — Embrace local theatre
Greystone Theatre presents Mother’s Daughter by Kate Hennig, the third part in the Queenmaker Series. England’s first queen regnant, who took the throne after the death of Edward VI, is dubbed Bloody Mary after a power struggle that has her fighting xenophobia, religious nationalism and strained family bonds. Now she must decide how to handle her opposition, what to do about an heir and who she can trust. The show runs to March 29 in the University of Saskatchewan’s John Mitchell Building.
