Since yesterday, Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja are in the limelight. As per the latest reports, the couple is headed for a divorce. They have been married for 37 years. It came as a shock to many as in recent times, Sunita has spoken about the bond they share and much more. They even appeared together at several events and shows including The Kapil Sharma Show. So fans were taken aback with the divorce rumours. Govinda and Sunita Ahuja have refrained from commenting on anything. But many of their past interviews have resurfaced on the web. Once, Govinda spoke about being attracted to late actress Divya Bharti and the possibility of second marriage.
When Govinda spoke about Divya Bharti’s charm
In an interview with Stardust magazine, Govinda once claimed that he was resisting Divya Bharti’s charms. This was when he was married to Sunita Ahuja. He mentioned that he is a firm believer of destiny and what has to happen, will happen. He then said that he likes Juhi Chawla and Divya Bharati. Govinda even called Divya Bharti a ‘sensuous girl’. He said, “Divya is a very sensuous girl. It’s difficult for a man to resist her. I know Sunita is going to be very upset with all this. But she should know that I am still resisting Divya’s charms. I haven’t given in to the temptation as yet.”
Govinda on second marriage
In the same interview, Govinda spoke about second marriage. He stated that there is second marriage written in his kundali so Sunita should stay prepared. He added, “Tomorrow, who knows, I may get involved again, and then, maybe I will marry the girl I get involved with. But Sunita should be prepared for it. Only then will I feel free.”
Over the years, Govinda received the iconic star status with his comic timing in films and great dancing skills. The actor achieved great success and was also among the highest-paid actors back in time. But it is his love life that kept him in the news. In the past, Govinda has been linked to many of his co-stars. He allegedly had an affair with actress Neelam. Rumours also had it that Govinda had grown close to Rani Mukerji while filming Had Kar Di Aapne.
Post the reports of divorce hit headlines, certain unconfirmed reports claimed that actor’s closeness with a young Marathi actress is one of the reasons behind their split. However, as per a report in entertainment news portal Etimes, his manager confirmed that they have ‘issues’ due to ‘certain statements made by certain members from the family.’
