From exploring local attractions to enjoying wintry outdoor fun, families across Windsor and Essex County made the most of Family Day on Monday.

Those who ventured out in the cold enjoyed winter activities like sledding and nature walks, making the most of the frosty weather.

Free recreational activities such as skating, swimming, basketball, and pickleball were offered at municipal and community recreation facilities through the annual Family in Motion Day sponsored by Southwestern Ontario in Motion and South West Area Recreation Guild.

Families supported by the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society benefited from donations of food, thanks to a number of local businesses.

Co-Operators, Sobeys St. Clair Beach, LendCity Mortgages, Rafih Auto Group, and Signature Realty Group put together 1,200 bags filled with groceries Monday. Members of the Windsor Express basketball team also made a special appearance at Windsor’s WFCU Centre.
